I first saw these a few years back under the Luminaire brand name and they were outrageously expensive. With these I can buy an entire set for what a single candle under the brand name costs. Although not perfect, I think these are more realistic than candles that just have pulsing LEDs and no movement.Based on the reviews stating some candles didn't work, some made noise, and some remotes were defective, I decided to order 2 sets to cover my bases. In testing every candle all worked, but only 1 of the 10 didn't have the clicking noise. The remote worked fine. I also felt the flame movement was predictable and could have been more realistic (flame mostly moves back and forth and not random pulses). I sent back one set due to the clicking noise. The noise is a result of the bottom half of the plastic flame banging up against the LED housing. I kept the second set because I needed at least one set of candles, but the clicking noise was driving me nuts. So I bought some thin dark grey foam with adhesive backing, cut it into small pieces, lowered each piece through the top hole by sticking the foam to the end of a very small drill bit, and adhered it to either the LED housing or the bottom part of the plastic flame. See pic. Not only did this successfully stop the click noise, it had the unexpected result of making each flame behave a little differently, so it made them look more random. I could not find thin white colored foam but the dark grey foam isn't obvious unless someone looks down through the hole. BTW, if your candles don't click, place them on a slanted surface and they will. Some reported the candle glow is too orange. I disagree. Oddly, when turned off, the plastic flames appear purple in color. See pic. Some have also reported batteries not lasting long. There is an on/off switch on the bottom of each candle. If you leave the switch on and use the remote to control the on/off, the candles are technically still on even after you press the remote's off button in order to be able to receive the signal from the remote. This slowly drains the batteries. Keep the bottom switch off and switch it on when you want them on and use the remote as needed, but put the switch in the off position when done. Your batteries will last much longer.I just wish they offered these in taller versions. The inside top of the candle surface is a magnet for dust, but the area is large enough to be able to clean without much difficulty. In general, I recommend these, just be aware of the noise. I was not compensated for my review but should have been :).Update: I loved these candles so much I bought another set. Unfortunately, the styrofoam dividers were broken and some of the candles had gotten damaged, so I got a replacement. Upon opening and comparing to my original set, I noticed that the color of the plastic flame was, as some reviewers mentioned, a strange purplish white, different from the pure white of my originals. Not a big deal for me, but when I turned them on (all with fresh batteries and on the brightest setting), it was clear that the new set had a more yellow tint to it and was much dimmer. Not bad looking candles on their own, but compared to my first set, they look dingy and fake. (See photos: originals on left, new on right. Color difference is hard to see in photos but obvious in real life.)Since I purchased my originals less than a month ago, I'm hoping that this isn't a new design flaw, but just an inconsistency that varies from set to set. I'm going to try one more time and hope I get a set to match my perfect originals. If you're only looking to get one set, I'd still recommend the product, but if you want multiple sets that match, good luck.Original review: I love these flameless candles. After reading reviews, I was worried the clicking noise would bother me but only one of my candles makes the slightest sound and I got used to it immediately and even find it soothing. The flickering is realistic and I love how you can turn the brightness up and down. I've even found myself holding my hair as I lean over them or going to blow them out when I'm done before remembering there's no flame. This is one of my best purchases from Amazon! I had seen one of my friends that had similar ones - they were just sold by a different vendor. He had the ones with the dancing flickering flame, which is the most life like and I just had to have them! He said to go to Costco but it was just way more convenient for these to be delivered to me so I went to Amazon. Prior to purchasing these on Amazon, I always google to see what the #1 brand of flame-less flickering candles are out there and then I go search on Amazon. I should have known to just go to Amazon first. :-)You will notice that on the first photo, I wanted to show you the wick not lit. At first when I opened the package and saw the wick, I had thought that perhaps I got somebody's idea of a joke. LOL But TRUST ME, when you light these up, the wick actually flickers and dances like the real thing. I don't know how they thought of this, but it looks AMAZING! I would HIGHLY recommend. I am even going to buy another set in a different color. Oh and best of all....you have a remote control to just turn on/off and all the timer settings. Love my new candles!!I am happy with the purchase. Sets a nice tone to the room at night. I really like the remote feature.arrived in a timely manner in tact. Only tested a couple of the candles to see the effect, and I think they will be lovely when in full use. Remote is a bonus and works.
